The New York State Children’s Camp Safety Group, founded 13 years ago to help children’s camps improve their safety and reduce workers’ compensation insurance costs, has declared a 50 percent dividend on paid-in premiums for its members.
In addition to this dividend — up from 40 percent last year — there is an immediate discount of 10 percent for eligible members.
“This was an amazing year for our Safety Group with our members rewarded with a substantial dividend for their excellent safety record,” said Henry Skier, Safety Group co-founder and group manager. “Member camps have shown confidence in the safety group and a dedication to safety, which has significantly lowered their cost of insurance.”
The Safety Group has 116 members who share in dividends and discounts. According to Skier, who also serves as president of AMSkier Insurance, the largest direct insurer of children’s camps, AMSkier is developing similar safety programs for camps in other states.
Since the safety group’s founding year in 1993:
• More than $5 million has been returned to members.
• An average dividend yield of more than 40 percent has been paid.
• Dividends have been declared and paid in every year.
Enrollment in the Safety Group for new members is open through June 15, 2005 for day and resident camps. Camps may apply to the Safety Group Manager, Henry Skier, by calling 800-245-2666.
