The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) announced that Willis Group Holdings CEO and Chairman Joseph J. Plumeri will be the honoree for its 2009 New York Division Gala.
Plumeri will be honored specifically for his personal philanthropy and positive impact on the reputation of the insurance industry, the group said.
IICF Chairman Michael P. Fujii said called Plumeri “a spokesperson and cheerleader for our industry” who “uses his influence to improve public perceptions about insurance and help those unfamiliar with the industry understand the vital role that it plays in our global economy.”
In his philanthropic efforts, Plumeri was worked with such organizations as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse, American Friends of Churchill Museum and the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.
The gala is scheduled for Dec. 9 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
