The president and chief operating officer of Connecticut Light & Power has resigned as the company continues to come under fire for its handling of power outages after last month’s snowstorm.
Northeast Utilities officials say Jeffrey Butler resigned on Thursday, Nov. 17, and that they are launching a national search for his successor.
Butler and others at CL&P have been criticized by customers, state officials and members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation for perceived delays in restoring power after last month’s storm.
More than 800,000 customers lost power, and some were out for up to 10 days.
Butler joined Berlin-based CL&P in 2009 after 27 years Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco.
