Greenwich, Conn.-headquartered W.R. Berkley Corp. announced Gregory A. Douglas has been named president of its B F Re Underwriters unit. The appointment is effective January 1, 2013.
Douglas succeeds Daniel L. Avery, who served as president of B F Re Underwriters since it was established in 2002. Avery will continue to oversee other activities within the W.R. Berkley Corp. group of companies.
Douglas joined B F Re as executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2010. He has 30 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry, holding various senior positions with leading property/casualty insurers and global reinsurers.
B F Re, based in Stamford, Conn., offers a wide range of reinsurance products including treaty, automatic, semi-automatic and individual risk assumed reinsurance through a nationwide network of regional offices.
