Union Mutual of Vermont Companies Appoints COO

Union Mutual of Vermont Companies announced the promotion of Michael W. Nobles to the position of chief operating officer.

Nobles joined the company in 1995 as a staff accountant. He was promoted to treasurer and vice president of finance in 2003, and was named the senior vice president/treasurer/chief financial officer in 2011. In addition to his duties at Union Mutual, in 2001 Nobles was elected as chief financial officer of Eastern Mutual Insurance Company, an affiliate of Union Mutual, and was promoted to Eastern Mutual’s CEO in 2012. He currently sits on several insurance related boards.

Additionally, Jennifer P. Galfetti has been promoted to the position of assistant treasurer. Galfetti has held the position of accounting manager since joining the company in 2009, and will continue to oversee the day-to-day accounting functions along with expanded financial and reinsurance-related duties. Galfetti was recently elected as chief financial officer of Eastern Mutual Insurance Company.

Union Mutual of Vermont Companies is a property/casualty insurance group consisting of Union Mutual Fire Insurance and New England Guaranty Insurance Company Inc., both based in Montpelier, Vt., and Eastern Mutual Insurance Company, based in Greenville, N.Y. The three companies write a total of $110 million in direct premium annually through independent agents throughout New England and New York. The company was founded in 1874.
