Well, why wouldn’t they? The way the Feds handed out money to them. Hey, let’s put another $1B in development on the coast. If a storm hits, they’ll just get an extra $30B in “recovery” money.
New Jersey wants to allow developers and individuals to build where we know there will another disaster. And who has to pay for the disaster? The other 49 states. This is unforgiveable. What happened to a sense of responsibility?
If they can’t attract the tourists back, then the locals will have to dig into their own pockets to keep their blue state in the black.
When I go out to visit Boston I love the ocean but I also appreciate that there are places there where I can stare at it, order a dinner and have a cold one. A lot of New Jersey just got old and vulnerable, there’s got to be some development compromise somewhere. I don’t wish to spend the rest of my life living in a cave, eating berries singing “Imagine” so that there is no possibility that I will leave a footprint that will disturb a turtle.
I say they develop this area with NASCAR tracks in every zip code. This would attract all the mouth breathers and booger eaters
from the Confederate, and when they go on a racin’ tour in their home made RV’s (Pick up trucks with tarps in the bed filled with water), NJ would get back all the money doled out from the various hurricanes, tornado activity, close cousin relations, and other Southern lifestyle immoral occurrences.
