ACE Announces Executive Appointments at AOG Division

Bermuda’s ACE Limited announced a series of executive appointments at ACE Overseas General (AOG). Roger Giddings has been named Sr. VP and Head of Offshore Energy Underwriting for the newly created ACE Global Energy Group. Roger A. Day assumes the position of Executive VP, International Claims for AOG. Peter Murray, currently responsible for ACE European Group claims, has been promoted to the position of Sr. VP, Claims for AOG, and Michael Furgueson has been named to the newly-created position of Executive VP, Financial Lines of AOG.

“ACE Overseas General is the business segment of the ACE Group of Companies comprised of ACE International (ACE Europe, ACE Latin America, ACE Far East and ACE Asia Pacific) and ACE Global Markets, the Company’s Lloyd’s operation,” explained the announcement.

Giddings will be based in London and will report locally to Gary Schmalzriedt, President & CEO of ACE European Group. He will have global responsibility for ACE’s Offshore Energy product line and will also manage ACE’s London office Energy operation. He joins ACE from Zurich Global Energy, where he was Chief Underwriting Officer, Exploration and Production. Prior to joining Zurich, he was Chief Underwriting Manager, Energy at AIG where he spent ten years of his career in various roles.

Day will be based in Philadelphia, and will assume management responsibility for the ACE International Claims Organization and oversight responsibility for ACE Global Markets, reporting directly to Evan Greenberg, head of AOG. He has more than thirty years of experience, 25 years with AIG, serving in a variety of senior international claims roles. Most recently he served as Managing Director, Claims in the U.K. with Zurich Financial Services

Furgueson will be responsible for all financial lines, including D&O, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions and Fidelity Employment Practices Liability. He’ll be based in London and will report directly to Evan Greenberg, and locally to Gary Schmalzriedt. He joins ACE from the International Division of Kemper Insurance Companies, where he was one of the founders of the Financial Insurance Solutions Division. Prior to joining Kemper, Furgueson spent 15 years at Chubb in positions of increasing responsibility, including a four-year posting to London as European zone manager. He most recently held the position of worldwide field operations manager, President & CEO of ACE European Group.

The company also announced that Martin Firman has been promoted to Sr. VP, responsible for D&O, AOG, and Richard Pryce has been promoted to Sr. VP, responsible for Professional Indemnity and Financial Institutions for AOG.
