The U.K.’s almost century old Cornhill Insurance has been re-branded as Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc to reflect its status, since 1986, as a member of Germany’s Allianz Group.
“The name Cornhill is synonymous with professionalism and stability. Adding the name of our parent, Allianz, to Cornhill’s acts as a strong reminder to both customers and business partners alike that we are supported by one of the world’s leading financial services providers,” stated Chief Executive Ray Treen.
The new designation will also be applied to many of Cornhill’s specific operations. The bulletin indicated that for example, “Lawclub Legal Protection, which provides commercial and personal legal expenses insurance, becomes Allianz Cornhill Legal Protection. Cornhill Schemes, which provides creditor, extended warranty and all risks insurance, becomes Allianz Cornhill Schemes. British Reserve, a leading specialist musical instrument insurer, becomes Allianz Cornhill Musical Insurance.”
However, some brand names will remain unaffected. Cornhill Direct, Petplan and Dog Breeders Insurance (DBI) will retain their name and visual identities. “Our research shows that the Cornhill and Petplan names continue to retain considerable brand value among customers,” Treen indicated.
Allianz three pillar logo, however, will replace Cornhill’s shield. The logo, familiar in advertisements and on the Williams-BMW Formula One cars, which Allianz sponsors, represents the Group’s three core business areas of Protection, Provision and Performance, said the announcement.
