Endurance Specialty Promotes Mary Lou Douglas, Maria Costello

Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. announced that its Bermuda subsidiary, Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd., has promoted two key people within its Excess Casualty and Professional Lines Divisions, Mary Lou Douglas and Maria Costello.

“Douglas joined Endurance late last year as Vice President, Professional Lines and has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Team Leader,” said the announcement. She has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Before joining Endurance she served as the Western Region Zonal Manager for the Specialty Professional Liability Division at National Union Fire Insurance Co., and was formerly VP, Munich-American Risk Partners, responsible for management, marketing and production of all Professional Liability lines. She has also held Professional Liability management positions at Starr Excess Liability Insurance Co. and Johnson & Higgins.

Costello also joined Endurance late last year as Vice President, Professional Lines, and has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Team Leader. She has more than ten years of excess casualty underwriting and production experience. Prior to working for Endurance, she was the New York Regional Manager for Excess Casualty at American Home Assurance Company, responsible for management, marketing and production of the lead umbrella book of business, and was formerly a Senior Underwriter at Zurich America, where she was responsible for the development and underwriting of both lead umbrella and excess business. She has also held underwriting positions at Chubb and American Home Assurance Company and holds a BA from Providence College in Rhode Island.
