Navigators Underwriting Agency Ltd., a subsidiary of The Navigators Group Inc. announced the establishment of Navigators NV with the opening of a new office in Antwerp, Belgium.
The new specialist marine underwriting unit is Navigators’ first office in continental Europe. The office is located at Uitbreidingstraat 84/3, 2600 Antwerp, Belgium.
Stan Galanski, CEO of Navigators, said, “Antwerp is a significant maritime center, home to the second largest port in Europe. Our local presence in this historic city will allow Navigators to access a client base which we do not currently reach through our UK operations, and reflects our ongoing commitment to developing attractive niche opportunities in local markets in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe.”
Jan Dela Ruelle is the marine underwriting manager and Ivan Eggermont the marine claims manager at Navigators NV. Both are experienced in the Belgian and international marine insurance markets.
During its first year of operation, Navigators NV will focus on three product areas: transport liabilities, cargo and marine liabilities.
