CII Launches Online Dictionary of Finance and Investment

May 2, 2005

The U.K.’s Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) announced a major expansion of its online offering with the launch of an in-depth dictionary of finance and investment terms on its CII Information Services website.

“From accrued income scheme to zero-coupon bond, adjustable peg exchange rate to zloty, the dictionary provides detailed practitioner definitions of more than 4,000 financial and investment terms,” said the bulletin. “The dictionary fully exploits the possibilities of the online format, with comprehensively linked cross-referencing and online search capabilities as well as a discussion forum where you can propose new terms for inclusion.”

“Financial advisers and others in the industry increasingly want technical information delivered straight to their desktop within seconds of realising that they need it,” noted Robert Cunnew, CII head of information services, “and they want it in bite-size portions with no fuss. This new online dictionary aims to deliver just this – the latest offering in an ever-expanding package of support services offered by CII Information Services to all members of the CII Group.”

The new service is available to all CII members, including members of the Personal Finance Society and the Society of Mortgage Professionals. It is also available to corporate subscribers to CII Information Services.

An insurance dictionary will follow shortly.
