In the second major airline accident in just the last three days, officials reported Tuesday that all 153 passengers on a West Caribbean Airways flight from Panama to Martinique died when the plane went down in eastern Venezuela.
Officials reported that the plane’s pilot radioed the control tower in Caracas reporting problems with both engines prior to the crash. Airport officials reportedly lost radio transmission with the plane less than 15 minutes later.
The plane was reportedly carrying mostly tourists, and there were no signs of survivors according to military aircraft that surveyed the scene shortly after the crash. The plane reportedly carried eight crew members.
West Caribbean Airways is a Colombian airline that has been in service for less than a decade.
