A.M. Best Co. announced that Roger Sellek will be joining the rating agency as Managing Director – Global Financial Services for A.M. Best Europe in early May.

He will work from Best’s London offices and will report directly to Larry Mayewski, Executive VP and Chief Rating Officer of the Company. “Sellek will have senior-level responsibility for managing existing relationships and developing new relationships with key constituents in the insurance and broader financial services sectors in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia,” said the announcement. “He will also provide input on rating criteria and work closely with the senior analytical and business development staff in Oldwick, London and Hong Kong.”

Sellek is the former Lloyd’s Commercial Director, a post he held for five years. He was “responsible for promoting Lloyd’s worldwide and, in particular, for the market’s global relationships with its investors and brokers, as well as those with the investment analyst community and other stakeholder groups,” said the bulletin. “Previously, he led Lloyd’s Market Risk Unit, which developed and implemented an industry-leading model for capital assessment across the Lloyd’s market.”

In addition to his broad experience and achievements in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, Sellek holds a BSc in mathematical physics, a doctorate in geophysics and an MBA from Imperial College, London.

Mayewski described Sellek as “an experienced, knowledgeable insurance and reinsurance professional,” and indicated that he would be “invaluable in helping the A.M. Best Company communicate effectively its goals and viewpoints to the marketplace.”
