Bermuda-based Ironshore Inc. has announced that Ronald A. Sandler, who joined the Company’s Board in October, has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He replaces Bob Clements who has been serving as Interim Chairman since the founding of Ironshore in late 2006.
Ironshore said “Clements will remain a director of Ironshore Inc. and will continue to provide strategic direction and advice.”
Sandler has many years of both global financial services experience and within the London insurance market. He served as Lloyd’s CEO from 1995 to 1999, and has held senior positions with National Westminster Bank plc, Exco plc, Martin Bierbaum Group plc, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Inc. and Boston Consulting Group, Inc. He is currently a director of Fortis, Computacenter plc and several private companies.
Clements indicated that the Company is “excited to have Ron Sandler leading Ironshore and helping to shape the company in these formative early years.” He also noted Sandler’s extensive “background and experience in the financial services and insurance industries.”
Sandler said he is “looking forward to this new leadership position with Ironshore,” and especially to working with “Clements, Bob Deutsch, the other directors and the rest of the senior management team.”
