December 11, 2007

Marsh announced from its London office that Hutton Swinglehurst has been named as a Senior Vice President and Matthew Hogg as a Vice President of its global Communications, Media and Technology Practice (CMT). Both men will be based in London and will report to Fredrik Motzfeldt, Leader of Marsh’s CMT Practice for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Swinglehurst, a Cambridge graduate, joins Marsh from the Lloyd’s broker, Swinglehurst Ltd., where he was corporate development director and a member of the board. He previously spent 11 years in the investment banking industry specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in the CMT sector, including stints at Société Générale and NM Rothschild & Sons in London and Warburg Dillon Read in New York.

Hogg “brings extensive knowledge of technology risks, issues surrounding intangible assets and the intellectual property insurance market,” said the bulletin. He joins Marsh from Kiln where he was intangible assets underwriter, having developed a number of innovative insurance products in the areas of open source software and cyber risk. A member of the Licensing Executive Society, the Intellectual Property Institute and the Intangible Asset Finance Society, he has been written extensively on these topics.

Michael Whealon, Head of Marsh’s Global CMT Practice, indicated that the two men would add expertise to Marsh’s CMT sector “and invaluable knowledge of the insurance markets in both Europe and the United States.” He added that they are expected to strengthen Marsh’s position in the highly competitve field.

Motzfeldt noted: “CMT as an industry area is important to Marsh across Europe and the Middle East and we already serve a significant number of the defining communications, media and technology clients in the region. Adding Hutton and Mathew to our team will ensure that Marsh remains on the forefront when it comes to ideas and solutions that will materially benefit the sector.”
