Marsh UK announced that its UK Chief Operating Officer, John Nicholson, has been appointed Chairman of its Scottish operations, effective January 1. He will have overall responsibility for Marsh’s offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, where he will be based.
Nicholsonand will remain a Director of Marsh Ltd. and a member of its Audit and Risk Committees. He has worked for Marsh for over 10 years in various senior management positions and has worked as an insurance broker and risk adviser for over 35 years.
Marsh said “Nicholson’s role will include stewardship responsibilities for the firm’s Scottish client base, which ranges from mid-market businesses to Scottish blue-chip companies as well as international organizations with Scottish interests, providing them with integrated risk solutions from across the MMC (Marsh & McLennan) group of companies. These include Kroll, the risk consulting firm; Mercer, the provider of HR and related financial advice and services; and Oliver Wyman, the management consultancy as well as Marsh.”
Nicholson seemed pleased with his new assignment. He noted that “after three years of commuting to London, I am excited to be returning both to my home base of Scotland and also to a role where I can work so closely with our clients and prospects.”
Marsh UK CEO Martin South indicated that he is “delighted that John has accepted this senior client-facing and sales role in Scotland.” He praised Nicholson’s “exceptional experience, coupled with his incisive understanding of even the most complex risk issues.”
