February 11, 2008

Lockton has created a China Desk in London managed by Jiong Zhang, to reinforce the global broker’s existing relationships with insurance and reinsurance clients in the Far East.

Lockton’s Executive Chairman Julian James had pledged the creation of a new China Desk in order to deliver enhanced services to clients in key insurance and reinsurance markets in Asia.

The world’s 10th largest global broker has been “expanding its presence in China to support clients that are establishing themselves there,” said the bulletin. “The London-based desk will also allow Lockton Global Risks to prepare for more involvement in Chinese business and help to provide introductions to business opportunities from Chinese insurers and brokers.”

Jiong Zhang, an 11-year insurance veteran with experience in energy, construction, property and marine cargo, “will provide support for Lockton’s corporate development into the region, help provide co-ordination across the wide range of Lockton services to its Asian clients and assist with introductions to other Chinese business, particularly reinsurance,” the announcement explained. He will report to Lockton International’s Global Risks Executive Chairman Paul Jack.

Jack noted that, “Jiong will work with all the business units in our Global Risks division to deliver strategic and business planning for the greater China region. His passion for serving clients will be invaluable in helping Lockton to establish a firm foothold in emerging insurance and reinsurance markets in China and help to provide clients a global perspective underpinned by local expertise.”
