Lockton’s reinsurance division announced from its London office that it has appointed Julian Wood as Executive Director. “He will play a leading role in the creation of a new specialist Engineering & Construction treaty reinsurance team that will seek to diversify Lockton’s product range in this sector.”
The new team will provide an all round service to clients globally, including facultative placements for treaty clients in conjunction with Lockton’s International Construction division, headed up by Duncan Urquhart.
Lockton noted that Wood “combines a strong treaty underwriting background – he was a senior Engineering treaty underwriter at GE Frankona Re – with broking expertise, most recently at Willis Re, where he held a senior role within the broker’s global E&C Practice Group.” His appointment reinforces Lockton’s expertise in the sector.
Stephen Hitchcock, Managing Director of Lockton Re, commented “Our primary purpose is to ensure that Lockton’s clients get the best possible value. As market conditions become increasingly tough, Julian’s arrival strengthens our ability to help our clients offer improved terms, conditions and capacity.
“By developing a new Engineering & Construction treaty team in London, Lockton is building on its US origins where construction was at the heart of the business. The Engineering & Construction treaty team will be able to leverage Lockton’s 40 years of experience and network of contacts by working with its US partners.”
