Lloyd’s has announced the appointment of Volker Eutebach as its first Market Relations Manager for Germany and Austria. He joined Lloyd’s on December 1st, and will be based in Frankfurt, working closely with the Lloyd’s legal representatives for Germany and Austria.
Lloyd’s said Eutebach’s “primary responsibility in this brand new role will be to assist Lloyd’s syndicates and managing agents in building relationships with insurance buyers and intermediaries in the German and Austrian markets. He will also be tasked with informing local buyers and brokers about Lloyd’s, and the benefits of doing business with the Lloyd’s market.”
Before joining Lloyd’s, he was Senior Marine Underwriter at ACE European Group in Frankfurt. Prior to that he spent eleven years as a broker with Aon and Marsh. During his tenure at Marsh he held the position of Regional Head of Marine in the Risk Management department.

I am confident that Lloyd’s and its stakeholders can play an even more important role in the German and Austrian insurance markets in the future. I am aware of lots of interest in Lloyd’s and I look forward to working with the Lloyd’s market to build on these opportunities.”
Lloyd’s also noted that Germany is Europe’s second largest domestic non-life market, behind the UK and ahead of France, and the fourth largest in the world, after the US, Japan and the UK. Total non-life gross premiums written amounted to €58.8 billion ($75 billion) in 2007.
