I am a franchisee. And I sort of ignored PCI Compliance until a local group of restaurants, which are owned by a friend, got hacked. I guess it was an internal job, but something that could have been prevented with some software. We went with a new all-in-solution from ANX, out of the U.S. The biggest shock of the whole thing, was that training was required to become PCI Compliant, as a lot of breaches could be prevented if people understood and were trained about credit card handling.

We have been trying to get this message across to our clients for sometime now. Am really happy to see some of the bigger players stress this as well! I’m surprised that more business owners don’t understand that if places like the Pentagon and security companies can get hacked…..then so can any other type of business. Times are quickly changing, it used to be that the only way that someone could “steal” from you was if they physically were at your location. Now they can be half way around the world…and can actually do much more damage.
