RSA Reorganizes Global Specialty Businesses into ‘3 Key Divisions’

The UK’s RSA announced that it has re-organized its specialty businesses around the world into three key divisions, as it seeks to join up brokers and customers who are seeking global expertise and capacity.

As of June first, all RSA regional specialty business will come under the insurer’s Global Specialty Lines (GSL) division, which was launched in September last year and currently writes around £1.2 billion |$1.9 billion] of premiums globally.

RSA said its GSL Division will now encompass the following:
• Construction & Engineering and Renewable Energy, led by Steve Kingshott;
• Marine, led by Richard Turner; and
• Risk Managed Business, led by Paul Greensmith.

In addition to the divisional changes, “Neil Lightbown, currently UK Underwriting Director, will also take on the role of Underwriting Director for GSL, ensuring the division has the right level of underwriting expertise and capability as global cases increase.”

Paul Donaldson, Group Broker Relationship & Sales Director, commented: “Since we launched GSL in September last year, we’ve made some great progress. To build on this momentum we’ve organized ourselves globally in order to support our growth.

“The changes will help us drive strategic direction and increase the Group’s appetite for each specialism. In addition, they’ll support our local offering to customers and brokers by helping us provide expertise and capacity globally.”

The announcement said that by “bringing these businesses together with greater global leadership, RSA will be able to work closer with international brokers, offer more consistent global programs and drive strategic growth in its specialty business.
