Legal Expert Taherbhai Joins Aon Infrastructure Solutions in Canada

Aon Infrastructure Solutions, the global risk advisory group for alternative project delivery of Aon plc, announced that Tariq Taherbhai has joined the firm as a director of the unit.

He has “extensive legal experience and contractual risk management expertise in the alternative project delivery marketplace in Canada,” said the announcement, and “will help strengthen Aon Infrastructure Solutions’ position in North America.”

Taherbhai is based in Toronto and will report to Geoff Heekin, managing director of Aon Infrastructure Solutions and executive vice president of Aon’s Construction Services Group. He will be working closely with Aon Infrastructure Solutions’ leadership across North America.

Heekin noted Taherbhai’s “significant expertise in infrastructure and public procurement law,” indicating that “his experience in developing and negotiating concession agreements with project stakeholders and public bodies will enhance Aon’s role as commercial advisor to clients as they navigate the evolving infrastructure procurement environment.”

As a contractual risk management expert, Taherbhai will “help Aon clients to bridge the gap between contractual risk transfer and insurance and performance security solutions.” He will also champion the development of risk products tailored to the alternative project delivery market.

Prior to joining AIS, Taherbhai was vice president of Project Legal at Infrastructure Ontario, the crown corporation dedicated to the modernization of the Province of Ontario’s infrastructure, using alternative project financing and procurement to strategically rebuild infrastructure.

Taherbhai holds a call to the bar of Ontario, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from McGill University.
