Swiss Re announced that its reinsurance business unit is undertaking changes in its organizational set-up of special lines. “Agriculture and Aviation Reinsurance will be no longer under the same roof and will be separated,” the bulletin said.
“Kurt Maureder, who previously headed the joint Aviation and Agriculture team, will now become Head of Agriculture and continue to report to Edi Schmid, Head Property & Specialty within Reinsurance.”
Georgios Toulkeridis, will join Swiss Re from Hannover Re as of the 1st of July to become the new head of Aviation. He began his career at Hannover Re in 1992 as a Property & Casualty underwriter for North America, “and joined the Aviation team in 1994 which he has been leading since 1998.”
Swiss Re also announced that concurrent with Toulkeridis arrival “Alan Beacock, current head of Aviation Market Underwriting, will be retiring from Aviation at the end of 2013. He joined Swiss Re in 1999 from Partner Re and since then has held various senior positions within Aviation Reinsurance. He will continue to represent Swiss Re in industry associations beyond 2013.”
