ACE Appoints Bonneau Exec. VP-Global Underwriting; Zaccaria for No. Am.

The Zurich-based ACE Group announced the appointment of Jacques Bonneau, currently ACE Group Executive VP and head of the company’s global reinsurance business, as Executive Vice President, Global Underwriting, with executive responsibility for advancing underwriting excellence across the company, effective July 1, 2014.

He will be working closely with ACE Group Vice Chairman and COO John Keogh and Vice Chairman John Lupica, as well as with ACE’s product line executives across the company, “Bonneau will be responsible for general underwriting policy, underwriting and underwriting management best practices, and oversight of ACE Group’s global product boards,” the announcement said. He will also “have executive oversight of reinsurance strategies for ACE Group. In this latter capacity, William O’Farrell, ACE Group Vice President and Chief Reinsurance Officer, will now report to Mr. Bonneau.”

Group Chairman and CEO Evan G. Greenberg expressed pleasure with Bonneau’s appointment; adding: “We are an underwriting company. Everything at ACE begins with the pursuit of underwriting excellence – it is a never-ending journey. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Jacques is an underwriter’s underwriter. His underwriting insights and instincts will benefit all areas of our company.”

ACE also announced today that Ed Zaccaria has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer, Insurance—North American. He currently serves as Division President, Regional Operations, ACE USA. He will work closely with ACE’s North American insurance product line leaders and be responsible for underwriting practices, portfolio management, predictive and data analytics and the management of corporate underwriting staff. Zaccaria will report to Lupica and Bonneau.
