ACE Promotes 4 in Global Marine Team, Including Williamson as EVP

June 5, 2015

ACE Group has appointed Andrew Williamson as its new executive vice president, global marine, for ACE Overseas General (AOG), effective July 1. In his new role, Williamson will have overall responsibility for the performance, development and future growth of ACE’s marine insurance portfolio internationally, including for its wholesale, global accounts and middle market clients.

Williamson has 22 years of cargo and marine insurance experience. He joined ACE in January 2004, as cargo underwriter and UK&I cargo manager for ACE Global Markets (AGM), the London-headquartered wholesale insurance division of ACE Group.

In 2009 he assumed overall responsibility for the AGM marine portfolio. Previously, he spent almost 10 years at the broker Marsh, managing a variety of large North American client accounts, and specializing in project cargo insurance for infrastructure projects. Williamson will continue to be based in London and will report to David Furby, division president, commercial property and casualty, ACE Overseas General.

Williamson succeeds Peter Seymour who, after 14 years at ACE and a career in marine insurance spanning almost 40 years, has decided to step down from the role. Seymour will continue serving as technical consultant.

ACE Global Markets also announced three further promotions within its marine management team. Jason Roe, Mike Reynolds and David Kirk will share responsibility for the performance and development of AGM’s marine portfolio. Roe will assume the role of product head, fine art and specie; Reynolds will serve as product head, hull and liability; and Kirk will be product head for cargo.

Effective July 1, they will report to Matthew Shaw and Andrew Williamson and they will remain based in London.

David Furby, division president, commercial property and casualty, for ACE Overseas General, said:

“Today, more than 90 percent of global trade is carried by shipping. The landscape for marine insurance is rapidly changing, not least through growing demand from clients for multinational solutions and for cover for ever-bigger exposures in the cargo market. Andrew’s excellent underwriting track record and marine expertise makes him the ideal choice of leader for our international marine business.”

Matthew Shaw, division president, ACE Global Markets, said:

“These newly created roles give further strength and focus to the ACE Global Markets marine team and position us very well to assist brokers and their clients with the new challenges that lie ahead.

“Given their strong underwriting backgrounds and depth of specialist expertise, Jason, Mike and David will make a great team as we continue to strengthen our capabilities and meet changing customer needs.”
