Towergate Hires Deakin as Retail Broking Director; Dalgarno as Chief Risk Officer

June 26, 2015

Towergate is creating a new retail broking division led by Janice Deakin, who will join the group as retail broking director on August 12, subject to regulatory approval.

This division will encompass all the Towergate Insurance retail broking businesses, Towergate Insurance Broking and Towergate Direct, across all their respective locations in the UK.

This new division offers a great opportunity to build on retail leadership whether face to face, in offices, on the phone or digitally, helping to build Towergate’s client offer, said the London-based company in a statement.

The existing leadership teams, led by CEOs Mike Lawton and James Tugendhat, will work with Deakin to make the transition to this new model and to keep transforming and building the business.

In addition, Towergate announced that Sarah Dalgarno will be starting on September 4 as chief risk officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Keith Jackson, who had postponed his planned 2014 departure to ensure an orderly handover, will leave following Sarah’s arrival.

Scott Egan, interim CEO, said: “I am excited to be welcoming Janice to Towergate and look forward to working closely with her as the revitalized group continues with its momentum. Attracting and retaining the best people is central to Towergate’s success and Janice joining is a clear demonstration of this. She brings a wealth of experience and skills and will complement our existing team of talented leaders. Under her leadership, I am confident that we can deliver growth and operational improvements across our retail broking business.”

Commenting on Dalgarno’s appointment, Egan said: “Her considerable experience in risk management and corporate governance will serve the group well as we continue our efforts to be best in class in these practices. I also wish to thank Keith for his significant contribution to Towergate and wish him the very best for the future.”
