Swiss Re Corporate Solutions announced that it has opened an office in Madrid, Spain, to reinforce its presence in the Iberian Peninsula. It will offer the company’s range of products and customized services via a locally based team.
Tony Buckle, Head of Europe, Middle East & Africa [EMEA] for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, commented: “The Spanish commercial insurance market is the fifth largest in Europe. Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has important clients in Spain and will build on that foundation. The opening of the Madrid office exemplifies our strategy to expand our local footprint across Europe.”
Luis San Juan Montero has joined the company as Country Manager Spain & Portugal to lead the new operations. He is a senior insurance executive with more than 20 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the market. He is based in Madrid and will be responsible for building and leading a team of experts that will service clients domiciled in Spain and Portugal.
San Juan said: “Large and upper-middle size clients in Iberia will find significant value in Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ financial solidity, underwriting expertise and innovation capabilities;” adding that he is “excited about the opportunity to work with our clients and brokers to find the best solutions for their individual risk-transfer needs.”
The Madrid office is a branch of Swiss Re International SE, the legal entity domiciled in Luxembourg of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
