But NASA confirmed that Antarctic (south) sea ice is the largest it has ever been, and the BBC reports that Arctic (north) ice has grown “by a third”

Al Gore said the Arctic ice would be completely gone by 2014 and got a Nobel for it. We were also worried about the Polar Bear becoming extinct. Why has the population grown instead?

It grew by a third from it’s diminished level. It also said in the BBC article that it was a one-off and would continue to diminish in coming years. Funny you interpret that as being the “largest ever,” and good. They also state, in the article you cite as the ice being the larges it has ever been:

“Satellite observations have documented a decrease of around 40% in the extent of sea ice cover in the Arctic since 1980.”

I am sad to inform you that a decrease of 40% does not mean the largest ever. Also, this particular study has been absolutely trashed, because the satellite they used cannot properly measure the thickness of the ice, meaning they cannot accurately measure the mass of sea ice, which is more important than the surface area.

I’ll start worrying when I read that Al Gore sold his beachfront properties and some old guy in the Middle East builds a yuuuuge wooden ship and starts hoarding animals. Until then, I’ll quote Alfred E Newman: “What, me worry?”

David, you only quoted a small portion of that article (and took things out of context). the whole discussion says: “But they say 2013 was a one-off and that climate change will continue to shrink the ice in the decades ahead.
The Arctic region has warmed more than most other parts of the planet over the past 30 years.
Satellite observations have documented a decrease of around 40% in the extent of sea ice cover in the Arctic since 1980.”
A 40% decrease in 35 years is significant.

Who can you believe ? In Louisiana, coastal land has been sinking since 1800 a natural retraction since all of the weight of the ice is off the land. Look it up.
Al Gore is the enemy of common sense, a lier and a fraud.
