June 20, 2016

Swiss Re has appointed Steve Arora as its new global head of Casualty. In this capacity he will also be joining the Reinsurance Executive Committee.

Arora, currently head of Japan, will move with his wife and three children to Zurich over the summer. The role becomes effective on July 1.

Swiss Re said that Arora is a proven leader with a strong track record of success in many diverse environments. He has worked at Swiss Re for 17 years and in that time has developed a broad geographic and functional experience in areas as diverse as finance, risk management, underwriting, sales and most recently in general management.

Arora’s appointment follows the recent appointment of Jayne Plunkett who was named regional president and CEO Reinsurance, Asia, effective July 1.

Swiss Re also named Atsuhiro Dodo as the new country president of Japan, effective July 1. In this role he will be both the market executive and client executive, as well as having oversight for all of Swiss Re’s operations in Japan in his capacity as country president.

Dodo has been with Swiss Re for 12 years and in that period he has amassed an in-depth understanding of the company’s business and the Japanese market. He rose to become head of the Property Hub Desk Japan and most recently was the head of Client Markets for P&C Japan.
