The Ziegler Cos., a Wisconsin-based firm, will sell its Ziegler Insurance division to Waukesha-centered R&R Insurance Services Inc., according to a report in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. R&R Insurance offers insurance, employee benefit plans, risk management and financial planning services.
Ziegler Insurance, which began business in 1902 as Ben Ziegler sold insurance policies riding around on a bicycle, employs 11 people. The deal is expected to close by month’s end.
The West Bend company has focused its business on investment banking, retail brokerage, asset management and portfolio consulting. To facilitate that effort, the company closed its taxable bond trading, preferred stock trading and institutional research areas in 2000.
