Ohio Department of Insurance Director Lee Covington has issued a cease and desist order against former Sandusky County agent Deborah L. Frazier after an investigation revealed she had allegedly acted as an insurance agent in violation of the consent decree Frazier reportedly signed on Sept. 19, 2001, surrendering her license.
According to the Department, between April 2, 2002 and April 30, Frazier allegedly discussed commercial insurance coverage with the owner of American Home Elevator Company, located in Holland, Ohio.
She reportedly provided quotes for business vehicle insurance, quoted premiums on a commercial policy underwritten by Nautilus Insurance Company, and quoted premiums on a vehicle underwritten by Progressive Insurance Company. A hearing into the matter has been scheduled for August 1 at 1 p.m. at the Ohio Department of Insurance.
Frazier’s license was revoked for improperly withholding, misappropriating,
and converting to her own use monies belonging to policyholders, insurers or beneficiaries received in the course of insurance business.
Between Feb. 1, 1994 and Feb. 1, 2000, Frazier collected premium payments for commercial insurance products but failed to submit the premiums totaling $52,420. In addition, she issued a bogus claim check, altered two insurance policies to reflect coverage, and issued several Certificates of Insurance showing coverage when, in fact, there was no coverage.
