Giles Insurance Brokers, Scotland’s largest independent insurance broker, announced the opening of its first American office in the Chicago area.
According to its written statement, Giles US Insurance Brokers, based in Northbrook, Ill., will specialize in commercial insurance and risk-management solutions for mid-level companies. Giles US staff, includes president and CEO Brian Daly, former chief underwriting officer for Allianz Global Risks US.
“Although our company is new to the United States, Giles US employees are seasoned professionals each with the expertise to create and provide value-added and innovative insurance solutions,” Daly said. “We value our clients’ needs above our own and work hard to achieve their goals.”
Giles saw a need for a quality and honest US brokerage firm after Wall Street scandals tarnished the honorable profession in 2004.
“Giles is synonymous with value, service, integrity,” said Chris Giles, CEO of the Giles group. “Our counterparts in the US will work hard for our customers, just as we have in the UK since 1967.”
Giles has already received accreditation from one of the world’s largest insurance markets, Lloyd’s of London. Last year, Lloyd’s market underwrote $25 billion in gross premium, with more than one-third coming from the U. S. Over 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies purchase insurance from Lloyd’s.
