Women Wanted: Securian Financial of N.D. Seeks Female Advisors

Flexibility, unlimited earnings potential and the opportunity to positively affect lives make financial advising a great career for women. Securian Financial Services of North Dakota is out to spread the word about this career and recruit more women.

According to Securian, the 18-person firm, based in Mandan and with offices in Minot, Valley City and Mayville, is hosting a luncheon for women wanting to learn more about the financial advisory profession, Tuesday, June 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bistro American Cafe, 1103 East Front Ave., Bismarck.

A recent survey from Money magazine and Salary.com ranked “financial advisor” as the third best job in America, based on growth, compensation and job satisfaction.

“Yet, nationwide, only 20 percent of financial advisors are female,” explained Rob Montgomery, president, Securian Financial Services of North Dakota. “We want to level the playing field so our advisor base reflects the population. There is tremendous opportunity for the right people to be successful.”

The luncheon will feature Sherri DuMond, RHU, CFP, regional vice president of Securian Financial Group, St. Paul, Minn.. Her presentation will describe her career as an advisor, as well as Securian’s innovative WISE Program (Women’s Interactive Sales Exchange) that supports the success and growth of female advisors.

“We realize there are differences in how men and women sell and run their business, and that’s okay,” said DuMond. “Our goal is to empower Securian’s female advisors by providing them the tools necessary to increase their proficiency and production, and provide personal satisfaction in their careers.”
