The University of Iowa has named a 14-member task force that will assist in planning changes to reduce the risk of future flooding from the Iowa River.

Officials say the flood mitigation task force will meet throughout the fall with faculty, staff and students. Then, it will present its findings to University of Iowa President Sally Mason in March.

Two consulting firms advising the university on flood mitigation planning will also use the task force’s work.

Wallace Loh, the university’s executive vice president and provost, and Doug True, senior vice president and treasurer, appointed the members of the task force. They will also serve on the panel.
