Businesses affected by the historic flooding during 2008 now have access to more grant money to pay for inventory and equipment losses.
The Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce said that the state of Iowa has raised the cap for such grants to $300,000 from $75,000. That’s a $225,000 increase.
The chamber also says the state has eased requirements for providing documentation. Businesses now must show they owned equipment by using documents like a tax return, instead of with receipts that may have been destroyed in the flood. Businesses still must show receipts for items bought after the flood.
Businesses that need helping applying for the funding can contact the chamber’s Business Long Term Recovery initiative.
