Sioux Falls Police Warn of Increase in Car Thefts

December 2, 2013

Sioux Falls, S.D., police are warning residents about an increase in the number of vehicle thefts in the last month.

The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports that most of the thefts occurred after residents had started their vehicles to warm them up in the morning.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens says most of the vehicles were “just taken for a ride” and have been recovered inside the city.

Clemens says residents should either watch their cars as they warm up or buy a keyless-start remote that allows drivers to start their engines from inside their homes without leaving the keys in the ignition.
