Konen Insurance of Aurora, Ill., and Dasco Insurance Agency of Northbrook are now partners in Keystone Insurers Group.
The addition of the two agencies increases to four the number of Keystone partners in the state since the end of October.
Konen Insurance and Dasco Insurance will retain their agency names, ownership and independent-agency status.
Founded in 1963 by Vince Konen, Konen Insurance initially sold only home and auto insurance out of a downtown Aurora office. Jerry Knudtson, who joined the agency in 1988, and Brian Konen, who joined in 1993, became the second generation of owners when they purchased the agency in 1994.
Konen is a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (IIA of Illinois), formerly the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) and which named him ‘Young Agent of the Year’ in 2002. He was voted ‘Agent of the Year’ in 2007 by the Illinois 1752 Club. Today, the agency has grown into a full-service insurance agency with 15 employees who also handle benefits and financial planning services.
David Samson is the founder and president of Dasco Insurance Agency. He started the agency in 1970 and specialized in property and casualty coverage. David’s son Ken joined in 1993 and currently serves as agency vice president. Ken Samson received the “Young Agent of the Year Award” in 2001 from PIIAI and subsequently served as president of the organization (2007-2008) and as chairman of the board (2008-2009). He remains active today in the IIA of Illinois.
