I am a residential alarm permit holder in the city of Akron. The application asks for installer and monitoring company information, as well as the last date of service for your system. Why ask this information if they do nothing with it. Review this information, create a policy that the system MUST HAVE BEEN maintained within the past ___ months/years. If it has not…REJECT the permit until it has. I realize that it would take someone to actually review the applications rather than simply filing the application and cashing the check. And it would take someone to actually answer the phone to field complaint calls to rejection letters, however those of us who DO maintain their systems could be assured that the police would respond to an alarm drop. Otherwise, I WILL respond and protect my property to the fullest extent as provided by Ohio S.B. 184.
