Carmichael is absolutely right. The Missouri public didn’t voted against transportation, they voted against the proposed way to fund it. There was a 200,000 vote margin. They lost the City of St. Louis by about 65%. We shouldn’t tax people for highway improvements based on a sales tax. It should be based on who is using the highways. The biggest supporters of this bill were the trucking and construction industries. No surprise there.
BS MadDog.
– Missouri voted this down because it was a bait and switch. The Highway fund is FULLY funded already. Problem is Jeff City spent it on other things, and now wants more.
– Missouri voted against this to force Jeff City into fiscal compliance, short and simple.
-AND, our roads are already overcrowded with federal road dollars that are being wasted on make-work pork spending… WE DON’T NEED IT.

I thought highways were funded by the fuel tax. Did the politicians use the money for goodies?

MIG, that’s what makes this country great. We’re all entitled to our own opinions. No one will put you in jail for having one.
Yet!
I hope their fears are unfounded. Then let them try to explain that.
