NAMIC’s 2002 Legislative Scorecard Available at NAMIC Online

January 29, 2002

A legislative scorecard is once again available on NAMIC Online, the web site of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC).

NAMIC’s 2002 Legislative Scorecard will track and provide timely chronological updates on all legislation pertaining to the core group of issues that frame NAMIC’s 2002 national state legislative agenda.

“NAMIC’s 2002 Legislative Scorecard provides an easily accessible chart of all bills filed this year that impact our core group of state agenda issues,” said Kenneth R. Marshall, state issues manager. “The Scorecard will provide state-specific bill identification, brief bill descriptions, a chronology of legislative action and direct link access to the full text of each measure.”

NAMIC’s core group of state issues includes privacy, producer licensing, credit history, personal and commercial lines modernization, state building codes, terrorism, uniform computer information technology (UCITA) and uniform arbitration. “NAMIC initiated this new state legislative reporting tool last year on a trial basis, but the positive feedback and consistently high level of traffic it received was an encouraging sign about its overall utility,” said Marshall. “Several refinements have been made, which will make this year’s Scorecard an even more valuable tool. Compliance managers, legislative representatives and other government affairs personnel will want to be sure to bookmark this easy and free online bill tracking tool as a continuous reference source.”

The 2002 Scorecard appears as a tab on the homepage of NAMIC Online. The main Scorecard page not only provides the valuable bill tracking matrix, but also an overview of NAMIC’s 2002 national state legislative agenda, NAMIC’s key issue position statements, a list of the 2002 state governors, the legislative make-up of each state and the dates for each 2002 state legislative session, and a link to NAMIC’s 2000 and 2001 Survey of New State Insurance Laws.
