InVEST Awards $40,000 in Scholarships

InVEST has awarded $40,000 in scholarships to a select group of InVEST students, doubling the scholarship awards from last year.

Four high school seniors will each receive $5,000 scholarships, while eight other seniors will benefit from $2,000 scholarships. Two community college students also have earned $2,000 scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated that the InVEST program has had an exceptional impact on their educational plans. The goal is to help the graduates attain a higher education with an emphasis on insurance.

InVEST annually awards scholarships with the support of company sponsors. This year’s sponsors were Media Marketing, Inc. and DORIS Insurance Systems.

Recipients of $5,000 scholarships include Amy LaVenture of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Catholic High School; Mike Choyma and Tracy Turner, both with Dr. Phillips High School, Orlando, Fla.; and Andre Martin, East Hartford (Conn.) High School.

Recipients of $2,000 scholarships are Ana Teixeita, Dr. Phillips High; Jessica Benson, East Hartford High; Ashley Farino and Thomas Pirko, Dryden (N.Y.) High School; Nicole Miller, Jones High School, Orlando; Laura Colbath, Spaulding High School, Rochester, N.H.; Said Sharif, Abraham Lincoln High School, Denver; Samantha Gonzalez, Lakewood Ranch High School, East Bradenton, Fla.; and Traci Fansler and Dorian Cobb, Grossmont College, San Diego.
