W. R. Berkley Corporation announced the appointment of Robert Gosselink as senior vice president – Insurance Risk Management.
His principal duties will relate to the Berkley group’s overall insurance risk and capacity strategy and the oversight of its reinsurance purchasing. The appointment is effective immediately.
Gosselink, 50, has over 25 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industries on both the company and brokerage sides. He most recently was a senior vice president and manager, ceded reinsurance and portfolio management for XL Global Services, where he had been engaged since 1990.
The company also announced that, effective Jan. 1, 2004, Robert Hewitt will succeed H. Raymond Lankford as senior vice president – Alternative Markets Operations and will assume responsibility for oversight of that segment of the company’s operations.
Lankford has elected to retire from being an officer of the company at the end of the year. He has agreed to become available to consult with the company and to work on special projects. Hewitt, 43, previously served as senior vice president – Risk Management since January 2002.
