October 20, 2003

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company has commissioned MJM Investigations, Inc., a nationwide private investigation firm providing innovative investigative solutions to the insurance industry, to handle its Special Investigations Unit (SIU) claims efforts.

“Fireman’s Fund is extraordinarily proud of our long-time industry reputation as a leader in fighting fraud,” said Debbie Knox, senior vice president of Claims for Fireman’s Fund. “We can now report that we’ve bolstered our stand against fraud by enlisting MJM’s 300 experts who will broaden and deepen our capabilities. MJM will bring us state-of-the-art technology as well as access to on-line investigative information including photos, surveillance video, audio interviews, investigative notes and reports.”

Knox added, “Outsourcing will enable us to focus on our core claims mission of working with customers to promptly and fairly settle losses such as homeowners’ and automobile accidents while placing suspicious claims into the hands of international SIU experts. This action will also improve the cost, service quality, flexibility and efficiency of our overall claim handling.”

Michael Malone, chairman and CEO of MJM Investigations, noted, “We have already established a national reputation for combating insurance fraud. Our SIU work for Fireman’s Fund is a strategic component in our expansion, validating our increased ability to create and deliver risk solutions and investigative services to global insurance markets.”

The Fireman’s Fund SIU arrangement with MJM Investigations, Inc. was launched on Oct. 1, with the transition expected to be completed by mid-November when MJM will handle all SIU investigations.
