Big “I” Markets Adds National Interstate Recreational Vehicle Program to Product Line

March 10, 2004

Big “I” Markets, the online market-access program developed by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA), announced that National Interstate Insurance Company is providing Big “I” member agents and brokers access to its recreational vehicle (RV) policy.

National Interstate, a specialty insurance provider with expertise in motorhome coverage, is giving Big “I” members access to an RV program that provides superior protection for insureds with motor homes, bus conversions or travel trailers. This program allows both personal- and commercial-use RV policies and features disappearing deductibles, total loss replacement coverage, personal effects coverage, campsite liability protection, and towing and roadside labor. The program is endorsed by the Spartan Chassis and the Newell Owners clubs.

“The RV underwriting and coverage information online in Big ‘I’ Markets is a great state-specific resource for our members in securing coverage for their clients,” said Paul A. Buse, president of the association’s Big “I” Advantage Product & Services Team. “The online quote request allows users to get quick quotes and request to bind coverage quickly and efficiently for their traveling clients.”

“We view Big ‘I’ Markets as a cost-effective way for us to reach a larger base of agents,” said Bill Hobbs, assistant vice president at National Interstate Insurance Company. “This partnership allows us to capitalize on our strong growth by leveraging the online Big ‘I’ Markets platform to provide Big ‘I’ members access to our popular RV program.”

Ohio-based National Interstate has an A.M. Best rating of “A-Excellent” and has grown 20 percent annually since 1989. The company is an independently operated subsidiary of Great American Insurance Company and is the underwriting manager for Great American’s public transportation and RV insurance programs.

Agents and brokers wanting to access the National Interstate RV program must be Big “I” members and registered with Big “I” Markets. To review underwriting criteria, download sales tools and policy specimens, and submit an online quote request for this and other Big “I” Markets products, member agents simply can log in to the proprietary online system at www.bigimarkets.com.

Non-Big “I”-members must join their IIABA state agent associations and then submit a Big “I” Markets Registration Kit, which can be downloaded from www.independentagent.com/bigimarkets. Once the completed packet has been received by Big “I” Markets, the agent or broker will receive access to begin quoting business.
