    Hey 20 year Farmers Agent,
I concur with you about the big carriers that were in it up to their eyeballs. They pay the big hush money and are congratulated by the AG\’s for implementing new internal controls, while the little guys that were merely doing the bidding of their master are judged as criminals and are effectively banished from any future form on gainful employment. As interesting as all this is, I would really, like to discuss your 20 year career with Farmers. I\’m considering a Farmers Agency career and would appreciate your input. My email is listed so we can communicate outside of this forum.

    Thanks,
    Small Potatoes

The big keep getting bigger. However, the regional carriers will continue to expand and grow because of their ability to provide prompt and professional service.

Why would any respectable company admit that it would merge or buy a company such as Zurich? Didn\’t you read about the guilt free $171 million dollar fine Zurich agreed to pay? Their stock went up Friday, today it will probably tank and every Farmers agent will have to sell 100 life policies year to make up for the loss…

I heard this rumor on \”Squawk Box\”, that StPaul/Travelers and Zurich Financial were in \”early\” merger talks.

StPaul/Travelers should have indigestion after the USF&G/Royal/Travelers/Atlantic Mutual/Northland combination sandwich. The sponge must still have some dirty water that still needs to be squeezed out of it.

I would believe it if Zurich were looking to dump their small business book. They\’ve been killing that all on their own for years since they appointed every local hack with a P&C license, trying to gain some ground after choosing to throw homebuilder agents down the stairs and run off that business. How many taxidermist, florists, funeral parlors and Kiwanis Clubs can you write?

All the Zurich companies (Farmers, Foremost, Universal and others in US)has spent the last few years getting their house back in order and have never been stronger. They have overcome their profit problems, made huge advancements in surplus and now they have stated their goals of increased market share. I would not be surprised if a merger like this happened in the future as the Zurich CEO has stated before that he wants to double their size. (However, I expect he would keep the power) Their present (American)CEO completely turned the company around in less than 3 years and is now both focused and well-funded.

    Joe,
Are you overlooking the $171,000,000.00 fine Zurich agreed to pay this morning?
How good is good when the US CEO is caught with his pants down?

Anybody old enough to remember Prudential being a symbol of honesty and integrety?
If so, then you may be familiar with this Rock of Gibraltra being caught screwing its trusting customers.

Those who see the insurance industry as a glass half-full aren\’t living in the Real World. They\’ll screw your eyes out if you let\’em.

USAA is the most honest, reliable insurance company we\’ve dealt with, and they don\’t have agents hawking their wares on billboards. In fact, they don\’t have agents period.

Like two peasin a pod. Neither one has competent inside examiners, they kick back all soft costs, try and hold onto the reserve dollars forever by messing with their sub contractor claims people.

Neith one pays on time, and the little field adjuster basically finances the carrier. The carrier does not pay the IA and then the IA does not pay the field people.

There is a whole lot wrong and when the bad faith claims from Katrina, Rita and Wilma start, the 117 million will bite them in the posterior.

They sure did a better job helping their insureds after hurricane Rita hit Texas & Louisiana than their competitors.
