CPCUs can learn about the latest property and casualty insurance topics at the CPCU Society’s 62nd Annual Meeting and Seminars, taking place in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 9-12.
The Society noted that the Annual Meeting’s Property and Casualty Insurance track features 20 seminars about important property and casualty insurance topics and industry trends. This year, there are eight seminars devoted exclusively to catastrophes and disasters. Other timely insurance issues will be covered in the remaining property and casualty seminars taking place over the meeting’s duration.
Four seminars have been filed for continuing education credits in all states. Property and Casualty Insurance Track highlights include:
Predicting and Preparing for Disasters: A Case Study Approach—Tough times call for smart solutions. Given a disaster scenario common to many organizations, the presenters will describe the types of predictive modeling used in managing risk, and will illustrate how to perform a business impact analysis; develop prevention and mitigation strategies; draft a formal business continuity plan; train personnel to execute the plan; and test the plan and correct any deficiencies.
Mega-Catastrophes Government and Industry—The vexing questions posed at this seminar will be: Can a partnership be developed between government and industry to handle losses exceeding the industry’s capacity? How can we maximize the use of the private sector strengths and expertise in claims handling under a private-public partnership?
A panel of speakers will present the viewpoints of the regulator, legislator, primary insurer, reinsurer and broker. This seminar will be particularly beneficial for property insurance underwriters, claim representatives, reinsurance professionals, attorneys, government affairs representatives, legislators and regulators.
