Professional Program Insurance Brokerage (PPIB) of Novato, CA has launched a new network security program targeted at the retail and healthcare classes. The coverage includes:

  • Privacy liability coverage for damage to third parties resulting from the theft of personally identifiable non-public information in computer data and hard copy form.  This includes loss arising from the insured’s failure to comply with state breach-notice laws or the insured’s privacy policies.
  • Computer information security which is another form of third party coverage that responds to unauthorized access, theft of or destruction of data, denial of service attacks, and virus transmission resulting from computer security breaches involving the insured’s computer systems.
  • Electronic media liability to cover display of electronic content on the insured’s website.

First party coverage can also be included for losses from network security breaches with options to include destruction and loss of data, network business interruption, and cyber extortion caused by failures of computer security to prevent a breach.
