Marsh & McLennan Names Bischoff Chief Financial Officer

Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. has appointed J. Michael Bischoff as chief financial officer, effective immediately. Bischoff will report directly to the company’s president and CEO, Brian Duperreault.

Bischoff had been serving as interim CFO since March 2012 when then-CFO Vanessa Wittman resigned to join Google’s Motorola Mobility Holdings unit.

Before serving as interim CFO, Bischoff was responsible for leading and directing the company’s corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and investor relations functions. Since joining the company in 1982, Bischoff has held a number of senior financial management positions.

Headquartered in New York, Marsh & McLennan Companies is a global team of professional services companies that include: insurance broking and risk management provider Marsh; risk and reinsurance intermediary services provider Guy Carpenter; human resource consulting firm Mercer; and management consulting firm Oliver Wyman. Last month, Marsh & McLennan reported $329 million net profit for its 2012 second quarter.
