Just wait until Health and Human Services Sebielus sends over her I.T. department to do a little programing for Obamacare. Death panels hidden inside the program with no one to blame but the computers when you get your denial for treatment.
Sarah – that’s the stupidest remark I have heard since Palin last opened her ignorant mouth speaking of something of which she had not a clue. Death panels? We were so much better off under Bush when denial of coverage existed for a pre-existing condition, students went uninsured because they were unable to be covered under a parent’s policy, it was okay to deny coverage for a child with pediatric cancer. Were those the good ole days for which you yearn? Why? What was so good about it? The biggest problem with the Affordable Health Care Act is that it is NOT a single payor system – otherwise, it’s a start to joining the rest of the civilized world.
Right on Brokie. Hopefully this will be a new tool to help us. As far as death panels go,(when the insurance company refuses a 2nd opinion) most folks are stuck using a bullet-to-their-brain to end their lives when their medical conditions deteriorate. People in America, like Sarah, are afraid to die. We should be able to die with dignity. Having allowed 2 family members to die with dignity in my home, I had the pleasure of KNOWING their final hours were calm & peaceful. It was sure better than my friend’s sitution when his father put a shot gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger because of his failing health. What a horrible condition to find your father in…
Your response qualifies. Attacking the person qualifies as the top of the pile stupid.
Honest people disagree on the appropriateness of how “Affordable” Heath care will be, and the right or wrong mindedness of Single Payor, but open discussion and opinions are much better than calling names!
..the end justifies the means. “Death Panels’ is just plain stupid – they don’t exist and to perpetuate that idiocy and go unchallenged is part of the reason simpletons like the Birthers are given a voice.
The Affordable Care Act may not have “death panels” but there is a “utilization board” that will review options for care. There will not be a higher authority to appeal denial of coverage for care like there is with an insurance company.
As for better off under this act, I’m not so sure that we are! In Pennsylvania, we used to have insurance companies offering basic insurance coverage for $60 per month. Now, the state is offering coverage to individuals for $283 per month with $1,000 deductible and they can not have had insurance in the past 6 months!
Also, you can not wait until you are sick to buy health insurance. That is like waiting until you wreck your car to buy auto insurance! Due to the new law allowing people with pre-existing conditions to buy insurance, I am seeing the rates increase dramatically to account for this.
This law is absolutely awful! There were much better ways to solve this problem. Look for Benjamin Carter on youtube to see how someone in the medical field would deal with the problem and solve it!
So much for the value of personal experience, intuition, prayer and the like. The computer may be a great tool, but I fear it may be used as the only tool.
Nothing else can distill vast amounts of information and ‘remember’ all of it better than a computer. HUMANS are still needed and Watson is but a tool. However we all fear humans will stop thinking about a specific case after Watson answers……Just like following a written policy today.
So why do I now need an Oncologist again? I think I will start interviewing the data input specialist instead of my doctor.
