Travelers Launches Online Cyber Risk Resources for Business Owners

October 7, 2013

Travelers has introduced a suite of online resources to help business owners navigate the growing threat of cyber risks while also protecting their assets and their customers’ information. The launch of the new resources coincides with the start of National Cyber Security Awareness month, which is observed every October to remind businesses and individuals alike to use the Internet safely and securely.

According to the Travelers’ Consumer Risk Index released in September, 64 percent of individuals cite personal privacy loss or identity theft as a significant concern.

“Travelers Cyber Security” is a public portal that provides information about the threats associated with cyber risks and how to protect against them. Tools include information on how to evaluate cyber exposures; cyber facts and FAQs, including a review of the most common consumer protection laws; and a review of the various cyber-related coverages and products tailored to the size and nature of a business. Weekly cyber security tips also will be available during the month of October.

“Technology and the sharing of information have become central parts of both business operations and our everyday lives, which is why it is so important that we are all aware of the many forms cyber risks take and what strategies can help keep business owners and individuals safe,” said Tim Francis, enterprise cyber lead for Travelers.

Travelers’ online tools were developed to educate business owners’ about the growing number of cyber threats to their businesses and their customers. In addition to the public resource center, Travelers also offers its commercial customers tools and support to find appropriate cyber protection for their business.

The tools include Travelers’ newly launched eRisk Hub, powered by NetDiligence, which is available to cyber policyholders by invitation. The web resource contains additional information and technical resources to help customers prevent and respond to cyber events.

All of Travelers online resources also provide direct contact with agents who can assist in creating personalized cyber risk management plans.

Travelers’ eRisk Hub, Powered by NetDiligence is available to policyholders of Travelers’ CyberRisk, CyberFirst for Technology and CyberFirst for Public Entities suite of business cyber products. It provides an additional information and expertise for current customers. It features content and services from risk management practitioners as well as information regarding computer forensics, forensic accounting, crisis communications, legal counsel and other highly-specialized segments related to cyber risk. The portal’s prevention feature includes tools to build privacy controls and IT security programs, calculators to estimate the cost of a potential event, a learning center with reports, articles and webinars, and resources for statutory, regulatory and case law updates. Post cyber-event features include a free 30 minute legal consultation with a “Breach Coach” to receive immediate triage assistance, sample incident roadmaps to address a privacy breach, and easy access to Travelers’ claim reporting website.
